At least that would be simple. No, October the year I started high school was when everything went to shit.
[Dad finally arrested for something he couldn't wiggle out of -not necessarily a bad thing- which was a change, and one that definitely made him more of an outcast than he had been before, plus mom going missing, which was definitely a bad thing, and something else to add to the list of ways to try and break him, and it had also been the first time someone had gotten bold enough to start an actual fight instead of the usual name calling bull, it hadn't been a good year in general, and had been enough to sour him on the whole month.
you wouldn't like to be a werewolf. too much muscle damage, it'll hurt every time.
[ is she joking? maybe, who knows. monsters are out there, in the literal and figurative sense, and johnny isn't one to sugar-coat the uglier truths she knows. she gravitates to people like eddie for the same reason — they've seen how bad things can get.
though, if she knew the kind of bad eddie knew— this would be a completely different conversation. ]
[If there's one thing Eddie's good at, it's subject change on a dime] Well there's three main types, right? You get bitten, so that's some kind of virus or maybe even parasitic infection. You get born one, which means it's genetic and hereditary and maybe can skip a generation. Or you get cursed into being one, however that happens, and that's magical means. And depending on your media, there's different rules.
that's part of what i don't understand. why are the rules so different every time? would an open wound being licked count, or would teeth need to be specifically involved?
i think i would prefer the first option most, personally. it implies a cure, somewhere.
yeah, saliva or blood in an open wound would do it, same as any other bloodborne illness. Blood transfusion would probably do it too. And you would THINK that being a curse would be the easiest one, just have to apologize and atone to whoever cursed you, but that presumes you're dealing with someone reasonable, and reasonable people don't go around cursing folks with lycanthropy, in my experience. Personally I prefer the hereditary option, means you can't pass it on by accident that way.

But anyone who needs to know that already does.]

[Occasionally derailing something else, as tends to happen.]
Kind of a small stack of bad memories, but yeah.
[And a moment later]
Thanks though, for not poking at it.
